As we read through the Gospels, we can clearly see that Jesus depended on the Father completely. It was made evident with every single one of His declarations, for example, when He affirmed that He was one with Him, and said His only desire was to do the Father’s will.

“because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”

John 5:30b NASB

Jesus, God made man, understood who He was as a Son. But He wasn’t any ordinary Son, He was one who pleased the Father and brought joy to His heart, a Son who was always willing to obey in everything.

Many Christians struggle to understand who God is as a Father and have yet to receive the revelation of His paternity, possibly because they have a distorted image of who He really is. They see Him as someone who is absent, distant, and indifferent to their needs. But there is something interesting the apostle Paul teaches us in his letters to the Romans. In the eight chapter, he tells us about how the Holy Spirit has confirmed and affirmed to us that we are children of God, and because of that, we have the legal right to inherit all of our Father’s blessings. He also taught us that when we are adopted by God as His children, we are set free from fear, slavery and can freely call out to Him, Abba Father!

“For you have not received a spirit of slavery [a]leading to fear again, but you have received [b]a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

Romans 8:15

The lyrics to Abba Father are based on this scripture, which speaks of God’s unending mercy and love for us. Despite our faults, sins and mistakes, His grace reaches out to us, embraces us as His children and draws us into His arms of love and forgiveness, removing all orphanhood and condemnation. When we understand that this is what’s on God’s heart for us, we can freely cry out, “Abba Father!”

With excitement, G12 Worship releases their newest single, “Abba Father”. We know this song has a special grace, as it is part of the soundtrack for the documentary, “The Heart Of Man” . The music video will soon be released, including clips from the movie, which has been a great blessing in this time.

We know that this song will connect you to the Father’s heart and give you the godly conviction that you really are His beloved child.
